Summary: Rose Franklin, a highly trained physicist, as a young girl in South Dakota, falls through the earth as she was riding her new bike near her home. As Rose awakens, she discovers that she’s at the bottom of a square hole and the walls are cover with glowing intricate carvings. The firemen who come to save Rose see something even stranger – a little girl in the palm of a giant metal hand.

The artifact that was discovered by Rose as a young girl still remains unsolved numerous years later. Its origins and purpose remain unknown and scientists are trying to discover who built the artifact. Rose is leading a team to research the discovered pieces and defy theories that are floating around.

My Thoughts: I really enjoyed this novel and can’t wait to read the rest of the series. I actually listened to this particular book and it was a number of actors reading the book to fill in the various characters. It had a little bit of everything in the story – thriller, mystery, intrigue, romance … it was a page turner it trying to find out how things were coming together (or not).
