Summary: In search for the perfect gift for her daughter, Darya sets out on a journey to find the ideal husband. Mina, on the other hand, is fed up with her mother’s endless matchmaking. Having moved to New York City with her family, Mina experiences cultural clashes both inside and outside of the home.
After one last attempt at matchmaking, Darya and Mina set off on a return journey to Iran. They begin to understand each other once immersed in the culture again. The journey of searching for the ideal husband continues as Mina falls for a young man who never appeared on her mother’s matchmaking radar.
My thoughts: What a nice novel to read. I liked that it gave me a sense of the immigrant experience and the cultural clashes between trying to maintaining the old culture with living in a new country and creating a new modern way of life.
