My aunt and I recently went to see Talking Heads which consists of 6 monologues over two different programs (Program A and Program B).  With the date that worked for both of us, we saw Program A.

Program B’s three monologues were:

The Hand of God is the monologue of an antiques dealer and her numerous friendships that she maintains with her aging neighbours. She often describes the number treasures she hopes to receive when they die. One of the neighbours does pass away and the daughter passes along a number of small items included an odd sketch of a finger. After selling the sketch for a small price, the antique dealer is notified that it was a study of the central image of the hand of God on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel worth millions.

A Chip in the Sugar is a middle-aged man’s, Graham, story who has mild mental health problems and lives with his widowed mother.  Graham’s mother is reunited with an old flame and he unearths a secret about the man’s past. The widowed mother is confronted with secrets of her old flames past and Graham triumphantly restores his comfortable life but destroys his mother’s chance of happiness in the process.

Bed Among the Lentils is about the wife of a vicar who also is alcoholic.  She is not very happy in her marriage and distracts her by having an affair with grocer Ramesh Ramesh.

The program was unexpectedly good and entertaining. I hadn’t read the program descriptions or anything online so I was pleasantly surprised by how funny some portions of the monologues were.
