Toronto Art Galleries

As much as I really enjoy the Art Gallery of Ontario and their special exhibits, I recently spent some time in some local art galleries which were pointed out to me by a web based curation of art shows, Artsy.netArtsy.net curates several art galleries worldwide and showcases upcoming exhibits.  I recently had seen the Jean-Michel Basquiat exhibit at the Art Gallery of Ontario and Artsy.net has several articles and featured work elsewhere in the world on their website.

Through Artsy.net’s Toronto city guide, out of the four art galleries that currently had exhibits on, I went to two.  Here are the galleries I visited:

Odon Wagner Contemporary

This gallery is for contemporary art exhibiting Canadian and International artists’ paintings and sculptures.

Nicholas Metivier Gallery

This gallery was founded in 2004 and is one that I’ve often passed by but never looked in.  It represents Canadian, European and American artists and handles work in all media.

I might consider using Artsy.net the next time I travel and feel like doing something different to the usual.
