I recently did a ROM Walk.  The ROM through volunteers host walks throughout the city on Wednesday evenings and Sunday afternoons every summer.  I finally had the chance to check one out, Necropolis.  Although the crowd was older, they had a good turn out where they had to split the group into two.

It was a nice day for a walk and I learned a lot.  The volunteer talking and taking us through the cemetery was good and lives in the neighbourhood. Toronto Necropolis was the second cemetery built in the city in the 1800s.

We walked through and stopped at a few different tombstones of some notable, and others not so notable, local Torontonians who are buried in this cemetery.  The tour guide pointed out several different styles of tombstones and the significance of its decoration and the styles for the time period. Sculptures and other artwork were also pointed out.  Sometimes the tour guide would tell us little stories behind the people that were buried there, and sometimes pointing out why certain tombstones were the way they were.

It was very interesting and was really good time to walk around.
