Summary: Octavia grew up in his father’s bakery before taking over to run the Notre-Dame bakery.  Although Octavio has mastered the perfect Parisian baguette, he has yet to master the art of reading.  Octavio’s imagination serves as his knowledge of the world beyond the bakery door. Isabeau, a disfigured, beautiful young woman, works a few streets away from the bakery.  She is out of sight restoring paintings and losing herself in the stories she reads.  A few coincidental events through several characters bring Octavio and Isabeau together.

My thoughts: I found this book a good read with an interesting story.  I enjoyed that the novel was written in a way that you read chapters on various characters during different time periods.  There were snippets of the minor characters’ stories intertwined with the main storyline. It was super easy to read through this book and I felt I was in an art gallery of short stories of different characters that were all connected together.
