Summary: The sequel to the Daughter of Smoke & Bone continues to follow Karou’s saga in finding herself.

Falling in love with Akiva, who now Karou considers the enemy, has caused an upset in the world they are from. As Karou feels betrayed, Akiva finds himself on the opposing side as war is brought back to life in their world.

Karou has hard decisions to make and is torn by how far she’ll have to go for her people. She is thrown into being a duty of building a monstrous army while Akiva fights the battle of redemption.

My Thoughts: I thought it was just as good as the first book and was still quite the page
turner.  There were some small twists throughout the book.  It has definitely set out good expectations for the last book in the trilogy.
