As usual this year, I volunteered with Doors Open Toronto. It was the last weekend in May and I spent time on two different walks and at the City TV and OMNI TV facilties at Victoria Street and Dundas Avenue.

Walk 1: “Making a Walkable Downtown”
This was a really interesting walk highlighting Park and other spaces that are both publicly and privately owned but publicly accessible.  It was great to be shown areas of the city that I didn’t really know existed and were beautiful.

Walk 2: Faruquars Lane
This was something I was somewhat familiar with through The Laneway Project.  It was a really short walk through the lane identifying the ways in which the laneway cam be made more pedestrian friendly. It was more interactive that I was expecting. It was nice that participants were able to provide responses and ideas even if they didn’t live in the neighbourhood.

City TV and OMNI TV Offices
The offices and filming space used to be at Queen and John. It was interesting to see the new space at Victoria Street and Dundas and was smaller than I expected.
