Summary:   This novel is about one woman’s journey in finding love and freedom in a pen, a paintbrush and Paris. Janice begins her quest as exhaustion begins to set in through her job as a copywriter in Los Angeles and she questions how much money it would take to quit her job. Through her determination and New Year’s resolution of writing in a diary for a year, Janice surprisingly finds her answer and it’s not as hard as she thought. To transition into not having a job and setting her sights on Paris, Janice cuts back, saves up for some freedom in Europe. Once in Europe, Janice meets and begins a whirlwind Parisian romance with Christophe, the cute butcher who doesn’t speak English. On her European journey, Janice realizes she can never return to the corporate but she has to face her dwindling savings and find a way to fund her dreams again.

My Thoughts:  It was a very light read and perfect for a vacation or, in my case, a return from vacation.  It didn’t require too much thinking and I enjoyed reading this book for the enjoyment of reading.  It was a bit predictable as I found it was the typical find-yourself-type of book.  Overall, it was great to feel like you were escaping to Paris and imagining the scenery and walks the author was talking throughout the novel.
