Summary: The Princess Bride is a modern fantasy classic with a simple story about the search for riches, revenge, power, and true love.  It’s set in 1941 and is an “abridged” retelling of a tale set in the country of Florin, beginning with the story of Buttercup and the discovery of her love for Westley.

My Thoughts: I enjoyed the book but not as much as the movie. It was still an entertaining read and movie does take the most important parts of the book and doesn’t really change the dialogue all that much.  Often remembering the movie as I was reading The Princess Bride, I still was fascinated by the story of Buttercup and Westley.  I was a tad irritated by the author’s comments on what was being removed and why.  I don’t think I’d be reading this book over and over again but it was worth a read anyway.
