Summary: Tokyo Fiancée (Ni d’Eve Ni d’Adam is the French title) is an autobiographical novel which focuses on the author’s romance with Riniri, a young Japanese man in Tokyo.  The author, Amélie Nothomb, returns to Japan at 21 years old and begins tutoring Rinri in French language before the relationship develops into more.

My Thoughts: I really enjoyed this book. I had seen the movie based on this book at TIFF which you can read about here and put this book on my list to read. I normally don’t read autobiographies but this book was a short, quick read and was a page turner. I could have easily read the book in one sitting if I had the time.  It was entertaining and interesting to read about Japan in general but great to read the author’s interaction with the culture as well.
