Summary: The second novel in the series picks up and continues with Katie Green’s decision to remain in Japan.  She has settled into her life in Japan and has fallen in love with Tomohiro.  The decision to stay has not been easy.  Katie is given an ultimanun to remain in the Japanee school although she continues to commit cultural faux pas.  Her relationship with Tomohiro is also proving to be difficult and Tomohiro struggles to take hold of his power as he risks to spiral out of control.  Over the course of their relationship, Katie and Tomohiro begin to look into the truth about Tomo’s ancestry and confront one of the darkest gods in Japanese legend.

Rain (The Paper Gods)

My Thoughts: I read and wrote about the first novel in the series here. I overall really enjoyed this book in the series. By comparison to the first novel, I thought the storyline was average but still managed to motivate me to read the novel. The second installment was still appealing as a young adult novel but could have been better written. It might have captured how a manage storyline is presented with the drama that was weaved into the storyline. I am looking forward to the third installment.
