Doors Open Toronto 2014: Coach House Press

I wrote about the building I was at here on Saturday.  On Sunday, I was at the Couch House Press for the day.  It was adventure trying to find my way to the building as it was for many others walking through their doors.  It was super interesting and such a gem in the city.

I had no idea such a building existed in the city and particularly where it was near the University of Toronto downtown campus.  It was the perfect day to sit outside, greet whoever came by, and get some reading done. I did get to through the printing press and overhear the staff talk about the old printing presses and how some of the other equipment is used.  Staff were often coming in and out and it was great to hear a history lesson on printing, binding, and typeface.  Fascinating conversations in a former coach house!

The books available on display outside on the table and what was available on sale on the second floor was great to skim through.  I picked up a couple books while I was there. I picked up a couple flyers – one on the fall releases of book titles and the other was a booklet they print themselves to distribute for school groups and at events like Doors Open Toronto describing the equipment inside.

It was definitely an interesting building and an enjoyable Sunday.
