Recently I went to see Bill Bryson speak about his new book, One Summer: America 1927.

Before the talk began, little cards were handed out so that we could write any questions down for Bill Bryson to answer.  I texted my brothers asking for what they wanted to ask.  I wrote those questions down and handed them back. BBryson1

Finally, the event got started and Bill Bryson was introduced and came on.  He explained the concept of the new book, spoke about his other books, and elaborated on some other stories written in his previous books.  I thought Bill Bryson was just as funny in person as he is in his books.

Questions were also asked and quite nicely answered.  Several questions were asked about plans for more travel based books and if one would be written about Canada. Bill Bryson answered that he’d like to write one about Canada and explained he recently did a cruise with his wife which included Eastern Canada. Part of the purpose for the cruise was to figure out if a book about Canada would be possible. Another great question asked was what type of books would he like to write if he wasn’t writing travel / non-fiction books. The answer given was mystery or detective type novels as he likes those types of books. The final question asked was one that I wrote down from my brother, Sebastian.  “Why is Bill Bryson so awesome?”
