Summary: January Scaller is the ward of a wealthy man, Mr. Locke, and lives in a mansion filled with strange, carefully maintained treasures that decorate the halls. She discovers a book that is filled with stories of secret doors leading to other worlds and of love, adventure and danger. January begins reading the book only to discover how intertwined the stories are with her own life.
My Thoughts: I really like reading this novel – it was an adventurous storyline with lots of mystery and fantasy to push the story along at a really good pace. It had a good diverse mix of strongly developed characters. To see all the different worlds that the main character learns about and visits was a really nice and tied in with a lot of historical elements inserted into the storyline as well.
