I recently attend a Poetry Cabaret through Toronto’s International Festival of Authors (IFOA). I’ve attended events before through this festival but this was the first time I chose to attend one on poetry. I did not have any expectations other than envisioning that it would be a typical poetry performance that we see on TV with the finger snapping, etc.
There were four poets. Three of the four poets were engaging and more animated in their delivery of the poems they presented. I did really enjoy one of the poets as he was what I expected to see performance wise for poetry.
Overall, would I do an event like this again? Probably not, but it was nice to experience it at least once.
