Sunmary: The Iron King is the fictionalized story of Philip the Fair who was nicknamed the iron king. He governs his kingdom with a certain harshness but cannot control his own family with weak sons and their adulterous wives. King Philip is wrapped around a web of scandal, murder and intrigue is weaving itself around the Iron King.
My Thoughts: This was an interesting read and start to the series. I didn’t find it strenuous to move through the novel – it was faced paced enough and straightforward I had read that this series was the inspiration for Games of Thrones novels and had expected to be from different perspectives. I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn’t this way. It was also nice that footnotes were include explaining some historically significance to events that were taking place in the novel.
