Summary: The House on Mango Street is a novella telling the story of young woman, Esperanza Cordero. The novella compiles several vignettes – some short, others heartbreaking, and sometimes joyous – showcasing snapshots from Esperanza’s life in in Chicago growing into a young woman.
My Thoughts: This was such a quick read – I read this novel in a day although it could have been done in one sitting. It’s not a novella I would have picked up if it wasn’t for the list popping up on my Pinterest feed. The story sounded more interested than the novel portrayed and would have loved to read some of the vignettes in more detail. Otherwise, it’s a nice, light, quick read in between heavier novels.
