The Canadian Opera Company‘s 2014-2015 free concerts and events have recently begun. I went to see one of the few evening performances last night. It was entitled, Walk to the Sea, which mainly showcased Jewish-Canadian trumpeter and composer David Buchbinder and Cuban piano master Hilario Durán. The music played was a collaboration rooted in the Iberian Peninsula which share Arabic, Roma (Gypsy), Sephardic and North African roots.
I’ve attended the free concerts before and enjoyed them so this was no different. Good morning on a great Fall evening in November. It’s always a nice way to spend an hour during the work week. The music was great and atmosphere added to my enjoyment of the show. It was nice to just look out onto University Avenue to see the rush of traffic move along while listening Jazz.
