Over the weekend I went to the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO). The AGO has a special exhibit, The Great Upheaval, on until March. As I had received a promotional discount of 20% through the Plum Rewards at Chapters/Indigo, I took advantage and went to check out the exhibit.
The art, on loan from the Guggenheim collection, were showcasing artists and their work from 1910 to 1918. Artists like Picasso, Chagall, Kandinsky and Marc were on display. Interspersed among the artwork were sculptures, information posters filled with historical facts that occurred during the this period.
There were two items on display that seemed to appeal to me. The first was Umberto Boccioni’s sculpture “Development of a Bottle in Space” and Picasso’s “Accordionist”. Overall, I did enjoy this exhibit.
I also managed to join in on a tour group that was going around the AGO. The group was half way through the tour when I joined but it was still quite interesting to get someone else interpretation of some key pieces. I’ve done a similar walking tour years ago and it was just as good then as it was this time.
