Summary: The Paris Wife tells Ernest Hemingway’s story from the point of view of Hadley, his first wife. The book opens with Hadley and Ernest meeting at a party of a mutual friend and the rest is history. Experiencing life through Hadley’s eyes as she undergoes changes from childhood into married life. It is a fascinating look at 1920s Chicago and Paris through Hadley’s eyes. Both cities provide an extraordinary backdrop to the love and betrayal of Ernest and Hadley’s relationship.
My thoughts: I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Although fiction, it was based on the truth and remained closely to it throughout the story which was great. The Kindle version of The Paris Wife had several links throughout that allowed the reader, while reading the story, could then read the facts associated with the portion of the story or person named. These links were useful and interesting as well. After this book, I’ve definitely added more books to my list to read.
