Summary: A fictional “autobiographical” novel about a woman named Ada Howard who is the wife of the Baptist preacher. As the announcement of a 25 year reunion looms and the stress of taking care of whole lot of people, Ada begins to realize that she needs to find time to take care of herself. While Ada goes on this journey to lose weight, she becomes suspicious of her husband and the reasons behind his busy schedule. Ada also begins thinking about her old flame, the thrills of being in love, and what could have been. The transformative journey not only changes Ada’s physique but also her perspective.
Ada’s Rules: A Sexy Skinny Novel
My thoughts: The book was super easy to read and quick to get through. Since it’s a really light read, I would definitely take this book along on a beach vacation as it didn’t require too much thinking. The topic was relatable to a degree as some of Ada’s weight loss rules made sense and could easily be adaptable. I did like the concept of intertwining weight loss goals with fiction but it could have been written better. Would I read this again? No, and if it wasn’t for a book club, I probably wouldn’t have picked it up either at the bookstore.
