I went to see a couple French films last week that were part of the CinéFranco film festival.
One of my bilingual colleagues had picked up a brochure and left a copy in our department for us flip through. I chose a few that I thought were interesting and bought tickets for two films.
I went to see Big is Beautiful (Mince Alors!) and Camille Rewinds (Camille Redouble).
Big is Beautiful is about a woman, Nina, who works in the fashion industry and is married to a bathing suit designer, Gaspard. Nina is a plump woman working in a skinny person industry and Gaspard doesn’t like Nina’s plumpness. She is sent to a spa town to lose weight. Nina meets several people and learns to love herself.
This movie was fun to watch. As the theatre was having technical difficulties with the subtitles, I had some trouble understanding the conversation. I’d have to watch it again to fully comprehends the jokes being said. The visual helped in following the story which was quite lovely and funny.
