TIFF Bell Lightbox is featuring a retrospective series on comic book heroes this month. I purchased tickets to see Superman and Superman II (the originals with Christopher Reeve) this past weekend. Despite scooting past this building every now and then, either by foot or on the streetcar, it was my first time walking into the theatre.
I was looking forward to seeing the movies and wasn’t sure who would be showing up to watch it as well. The first Superman was showing on Saturday afternoon and was quite packed with families (mostly dads with their sons). It was interesting to hear some of the conversations that the children were having with their parents before and during the movie. There were also a few filmmakers discussing some of their projects before the movie started. The second Superman was on Sunday afternoon and the theatre wasn’t nearly as full. Some of the audience had been in attendance the day before. Both Superman movies were fun to watch and experience.
