In thinking about what to do this weekend and in the upcoming weeks, I came across a few interesting events. I’ve listed all below with the necessary links and costs. I may attend some of them which you’ll be hearing about them here.
1. Ice Fest 2012 in Yorkville

Saturday, February 25 to Sunday, February 26, 2012; 12 – 5pm

Nothing
Why you should do it?
The ice sculptures will be on full display and ready for viewing on Saturday and Sunday. Sculptures will represent “Winter Winderness” and may include an ice log cabin, lumberjack, and Canadian animals.
Professional photographer will be on site taking photos for a fee ($5) which will be donated to the Heart & Stroke Foundation. There will also be ice carving demonstrations and an on-street skating performance by “Glisse on Ice”.
2. Sing-a-long-a Grease
When?
Friday, February 24 to Sunday, February 26, 2012
Friday: 7pm; Saturday: 2pm and 7pm; Sunday: 7pm
Cost?
Adult – $19.75; Child – $14.25; Student – $16.00
Why you should do it?
Well, firstly, you get to dress up in a costume which is strongly encouraged and secondly, there’s an opportunity to fully participate. The host, Shawn Hitchens, leads a vocal warm-up. You’ll receive a good bag with a demonstration on how to use the items in the bag. Finally, you’ll even learn how to hand jive.
3. The Artist Project Toronto
When?
Thursday, March 1 to Sunday, March 4, 2012
Cost?
Single Adult Ticket – $14 at door and $12 online; Student – $10.00; Art Outing Tour Package – $20
Why you should do it?
As the website says, it’s 200 artists over four days in one venue. The show features Untapped Emerging Artists, ‘Artist-at-Work’, Installation Alley, and a competition for artists interpreting the theme Energy. With Art Chats and an Art Outing Tour Package, it could be a very fun and interesting weekend.
