I spent a wonderful afternoon last Saturday in Yorkville. Running some errands with my parents, we unexpectedly strolled through a part of the path system that runs from the Manulife Centre at Bay and Bloor to just east of the subway stop at Yonge and Bloor.
We started out in the Manulife Centre looking at books and other items in Chapters before walking along to Holt Renfrew. To our surprise, Holt Renfrew was throwing an event, Pucker Up! in celebration of Valentine’s Day later this month. The makeup counters on the main floor were busy with ladies getting their makeup done.
By the front entrance, we tasted some cranberry lemonade and pink lemonade before moving up to other floors. Not only did we browse through the clothes, coats, and shoes, we also were entertained by a jazz singer, picked up some chocolate and candy, and had some strawberry ice cream. It was a definitely a fun couple hours in a store that we weren’t planning to head into.
Our next stop was Whole Foods which is part of the Hazelton Lanes complex on Avenue Road, just north of Bloor Street. Whole Foods had undergone some renovations and an expansion. It’s one of the few grocery stores that I am content in walking around to look at things. Right now, this Whole Foods location is the only one in Toronto so it’s a novelty for me and a place I rarely visit. It was great to stroll around, sample some items, and purchase some salads from the salad bar.
As Yorkville is a posh neighbourhood, I don’t often stop to look around carefully. So, it was a lovely Saturday afternoon and a great stroll to do with with my parents.
