Summary: The Lake is a young woman’s story after the death of her mother. She moves to Tokyo to deal with her grief and begin her career as a graphic artist. During her process in starting anew, she finds herself peering into the home of a young man in the neighbouring building. The young woman embarks on a slow and steady romance with this young man. As they get to know each other and solidify their relationship, she learns that she is not the only one suffering in her loneliness and grief. The young man also has suffered as he has been the victim of some form of childhood trauma.
My thoughts: I enjoyed reading this book. It’s a average book compared to others I’ve read but it was still quirky and interesting elements. As the book wasn’t too long in length, it was seamless and easy-flowing to get through. The storyline was ok as it was simple and easy to follow. For a book that I picked up from the library completely based on it’s cover, I had no expectations before reading it and therefore I enjoyed it for what the book was.
